Kirkton is situated on the far north coast of Sutherland near the small village of Melvich 16 miles west of Thurso on the famous North Coast 500 Route. Kirkton is an extensive working, family run, hill farm with sheep and cows (including two highland cows) as well as a few other animal attractions.
Caravan rental
Our self catering static caravan is comfortable, well equipped, and situated in a quiet spot with lots of things to see and do within easy reach. With all the delights of the far north on hand there is no better place to enjoy a Highland break.
Farm buggy tours
The first farm tour of its kind in the far north of Scotland. Get off the beaten track and have a tour in a four wheel drive buggy or a quad bike and trailer and get an insight into a family run hill farm.
Motorhome pitches
At kirkton holidays we offer a unique stay for motor homes or caravans on a family run farm with only two pitches with electric hook ups and plenty of space on a well maintained, clean, gravel site.
Farm produce
Our cabin is always open for guests only with display boards telling you all about the farm, local history and environment.
About Kirkton Farm
We offer guided Farm Buggy Tours where you get taken round the farm learning about farming life, see the animals and get an insight into the local history and environment.
We also offer a unique stay on the farm with two motor home or caravan pitches with electric hook ups and is open all year round.
Our two bedroom residential caravan is available between 1st April and 31st October for an on farm experience (Minimum 2 nights).
Guests on the farm also have access to our cabin which has display boards telling you all about the farm. There are extensive farm tracks for walking and mountain biking and trout fishing can be arranged. You will meet some of the farm animals as the dogs and the Pygmy goats, Harris and Tweed are always about.
Within a few miles of Kirkton there are a number of wonderful sandy beaches, Melvich beach being only two miles away and within a 40 mile radius there is a large number of tourist attractions.
We had the most amazing experience last night! What a great, clean, and well organised pitch. The little touches to help the kids feel at home were superb. The kids had so much fun playing in the field with the kids from the next van. The local produce in the hut was superb and we've taken some. We loved the buggy tour too! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
